Man arrested after alleged assault at Adelaide fitness studio

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing at a private party at a fitness studio in Adelaide overnight.

Police officers were called to a private function on Beafield Road just before 1.30am today, where about 30 people were in attendance.

Police will allege the suspect had an altercation with a woman before the victim intervened and was stabbed in the back.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a minor stab wound to his back.

The suspect left prior to officers arriving but was found a short time later at nearby service station where he was arrested.

The 23-year-old from Semaphore has been charged with aggravated assault cause harm and bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 17 September.

Police will also be investigating possible breaches of the Emergency Management Act directions.
