Luxury boat burst into flames, sinks at Townsville marina

A boat that caught fire at Townsville's breakwater marina earlier this afternoon has sunk while firefighters were still trying to contain the blaze.

Emergency services were called to the marina at the Townsville Strand before 1.30pm after reports of black smoke billowing from the vessel.
A Queensland Police spokesperson told 9News that all crew from the boat were accounted for but one person was assessed by paramedics.

Initial police investigations suggest the flames might have been caused by an engine fire at the back of the boat.

The sunken boat will now be retrieved by the Harbormaster and local authorities.
