Dog snatched from front yard just after a bath

A beloved pet dog has been snatched from outside its home in broad daylight, leaving the owners devastated.

Atlas, a five-year-old Japanese Spitz, had just had a bath and so wasn't wearing a collar.

Security video shows a woman driving slowly along a street in Fairfield on Sunday afternoon.

She pulls up, opens the door, and crouches to the ground, as the friendly dog approaches her.

"Everyone is a friend to her and she'd just go to anyone," her owner Elise Pham told 9News.

She is a big, fat, friendly ball of fur."

Ms Pham said the family will not ask any questions if Atlas is returned safely.

"I just want my baby back. That is all. I don't know what to say, we don't know the lady we don't what her intentions are," she said.

The abduction has been reported to police, and vets and shelters in the area.
