Residents, staff, must isolate as virus hits Victorian aged care home

Potentially dozens of residents and staff at a Victorian aged care home have been sent into two weeks of isolation after possible coronavirus exposure at the facility.

Wharparilla Lodge at the Echuca Community for the Aged, due north of Melbourne on the New South Wales border, was on Sunday evening listed as a Tier One exposure site over the course of almost a fortnight.

The Victorian Department of Health has ordered all staff, residents and any visitors to the 92-resident facility from 9am on August 13 to 6pm on August 26 to get tested and quarantine for 14 days, regardless of their result.

Health authorities earlier on Sunday listed a range of Tier Two venues, which require visitors to isolate until they test negative, including supermarkets in Docklands, St Kilda, Sunshine and Port Melbourne.

The full list of exposure sites is constantly updated at the government website.

On Thursday, a childcare program in Melbourne's north-east and medical clinics across the city were added to Victoria's list of almost 800 COVID-19 exposure sites.

Northcote Primary School's Out of School Hours Club has been declared a Tier One exposure site on three days last week when someone with COVID-19 was at the venue.

Anyone who was at the club between 7.15am and 9.45am or between 2.45pm and 6.45pm on August 18, 19 and 20 is being called to get tested and isolate for 14 days.

Hoppers Crossing's Werribee Healthcare Group on Barber Drive has also been deemed a Tier One site between 10am and 12pm on August 20, between 1pm and 2pm on August 17 and between 8.50am and 9.55am on August 12.

A medical centre in Melbourne's east has also been ruled a Tier One site after it was also exposed to a case of COVID-19.

An infected person visited Monash Medical Centre Emergency Department's Clinic Waiting Room in Clayton between 3.35pm and 6.30pm last Satyr.

However, Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton today said this exposure site was quite small because all staff exposed had been wearing Level three PPE.

A Hoppers Crossing pharmacy – Advantage Pharmacy at Hoppers Crossing Shopping Centre – has been deemed a Tier Two exposure site for more than eight hours.

Someone with COVID-19 was at the chemist from 11am to 7.30pm, meaning anyone who visited the store during that time must get tested and isolate immediately.

Shepparton exposure sites

All students of a Shepparton private school are being asked to be tested and many are in isolation after the city's coronavirus outbreak spread to the school's second campus.

Victoria Health on Wednesday night classified Notre Dame College's Emmaus campus as a Tier One site on the state's growing exposure site list, along with several other venues in Shepparton and Melbourne's west.

College principal John Cortese on Wednesday asked all students from either of the school's Shepparton campuses — the Knight Street campus was already on the list — to get tested on Wednesday or Thursday, unless they'd already been tested in the previous three days.

Other Shepparton Tier One venues added on Wednesday included the bistro at Comfort Inn Peppermill and Aquamoves.

In Melbourne, a Williamston smash repairs business and a Tottenham distribution centre are now on the list.

The full list of exposure sites is constantly updated at the government website.
