Young boy hospitalised after being attacked by dog at Adelaide playground

Police are searching for a man who allegedly ran from an Adelaide playground after his dog attacked a four-year-old boy, leaving the child needing surgery.

The young boy was with his mother at a playground on Yalumba Drive, Paralowie just after 4pm yesterday when the attack occurred.

According to police, a man walked past them with two kelpie/blue healer dogs and the woman asked if they could pat the dogs.

The boy allegedly then went to pat one of the dogs, who was on a leash, before the other dog, who was not on a leash, bit the boy on the face.

The man allegedly then picked up both dogs and ran off in an easterly direction on Yalumba Drive.

The boy suffered an injury to his upper lip and was taken to the Women's and Children's Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Police are searching for the man, who has been described as of Caucasian appearance, and aged in his mid-40s.

He was wearing a light blue/grey shirt and dark-coloured pants.
