Queensland has recorded one new local COVID-19 case, as the state's vaccine effort is again ramped up. The case has been linked and was in quarantine during their infectious period, having tested positive on day 14 of their isolation. More than 9000 tests were conduced across the state in the last day, on top of 22,000 vaccines.

Meanwhile, mask rules have been eased in South-East Queensland, just in time for the Riverfire festival which will be held tonight.

The state also kicks off another super-vax weekend today with walk-ins welcomes to all vaccine hubs, which are opened for extended hours.

However, Annastacia Palaszczuk has still refused to commit to a vaccine target that would reopen borders, which has thrown Christmas plans into chaos.
