Police charge man after alleged assault at NSW polling booth

A man has been charged following an alleged assault at a polling booth in Sydney's west. Police were called to a polling booth at a school on Fowler Road in Merrylands at about 5pm yesterday. Police were told a 43-year-old man had been allegedly assaulted and threatened by an unknown man, who then left the scene. Following further inquiries, police visited a Merrylands business at about 10pm yesterday, where they arrested a 29-year-old man.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with common assault.

The man was given conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday, January 12.
