Former NRL player charged with sharing child abuse material

Former NRL player Brett Finch has been charged over the alleged transmission of child abuse material.

He was one of eight men charged in Sydney's south this morning.

The 40-year-old was arrested at Sans Souci and charged with five counts of using a carriage service to transmit publish or promote abusive material.

Brett Finch celebrates the winning field goal in State of Origin in 2006.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on January 11.

Finch played 270 NRL games across four clubs and three Origin games for NSW.

More to come.
