One dead, one fighting for life after Sydney triple stabbing

A man is dead and another is fighting for life following a stabbing in Sydney's west.

Police were called to Catlin Close, Whalan, about 7.30pm on Wednesday to reports of a stabbing and found three men with stab wounds.

They said a 40-year-old man died at the scene and a 19-year-old was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition with arm and torso injuries.

A 25-year-old man was in a stable condition with a cut to his arm, police said, adding that the men knew each other.

A crime scene was established on Wednesday night as the police helicopter and dog squad searched the area.
